The Muswellbrook Cats Australian Football Club is seeking Senior Coaches for the 2021 season for both our Men’s and Women’s Senior teams.
General Overview
The Muswellbrook Cats home ground is at Weeraman Fields, Muswellbrook, and both teams train twice a week, with games being played on Saturday’s at various locations. The Muswellbrook Cats are a part of the AFL Hunter Central Coast competition, which includes teams from the Upper Hunter, Newcastle, Port Stephens, and Central Coast regions. Coaches could be asked to travel as far as Gosford for away games during the season.
The perfect candidate for our Senior coaching positions would be enthusiastic about the great game of AFL, have at least a basic understanding of AFL skills and game play, and a love for getting involved in the community. We are Club that prides ourselves on having a great Club culture and are always looking for ways to get more of the community involved. While we continually strive for success on the field, we also believe it is important to provide a Club atmosphere that both players and the community want to be a part of.
Coaches Responsibilities
Senior Coaches are expected to:
- Develop and manage sessions for skills and strategy training, for both preseason and the home and away season
- Provide advice and instructions to individual players and the team in respect of fitness, development, skills, and tactics
- Coach the Senior Team during all home and away and finals games
- Provide strong leadership to the playing and coaching groups that encourages a supportive team environment consistent with the Club’s values
- Be an active member of the Muswellbrook Cats Committee, and be involved in all Club sanctioned events
To be successful in this role, the candidate should have:
- AFL Level 1 Coaching accreditation (or willing to undertake this at the Club’s expense)
- Previous experience as either an AFL coach or player
- The ability to teach and develop players at all levels of capability
- The ability and drive to recruit new players
